EndeavorOS distribution release 23.11

The release of the EndeavorOS 23.11 β€œGalileo” project has been presented, replacing the Antergos distribution, the development of which was discontinued in May 2019 due to the lack of free time among the remaining maintainers to maintain the project at the proper level. The size of the installation image is 2.4 GB (x86_64, an assembly for ARM is being developed separately).

Endeavour OS allows users to install Arch without any complications. Work is underway to add support for the Qtile and Openbox window managers, as well as the UKUI, LXDE, and Deepin desktops. One of the project's developers is developing their own window manager, Worm.

In the new version:

  • The base live environment has been switched from using the Xfce desktop to KDE Plasma. KDE is also now offered by default in offline desktop installations. The change is explained by the desire to simplify development and maintenance. When using the online installation mode, as before, you can select any other user environment to your taste. For those who are accustomed to the Xfce design for KDE, it is possible to select a design theme stylized as Xfce.
