The release of a specialized distribution kit Tails 4.22 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System), based on the Debian package base and designed to provide anonymous access to the network, has been published. Anonymous exit to Tails is provided by the Tor system. All connections, except traffic through the Tor network, are blocked by default by the packet filter. Encryption is used to store user data in the save user data between runs mode. An iso image has been prepared for download, capable of working in Live mode, with a size of 1.1 GB.
The new version makes changes to the Tor connection wizard, which makes it possible to connect from censored networks through bridge gateways to bypass blocking. The new version introduces the ability to save the selected bridge gateway in permanent storage, as well as manually adjust the time in case of failure of connecting to Tor through bridge gateways using obfs4. A button has been added to the error pages to retry connecting to Tor.
Tails 4.22 also offers new versions of Tor Browser 10.5.6, Thunderbird 78.13 and firmware for AMD GPUs (20210818). Stopped restarting Tor after exiting Unsafe Browser, which is used to access resources on the local network. Added checking for downloading automatically installed updates from the working mirror.
