The fheroes2 1.1.4 project is now available, which recreates the Heroes of Might and Magic II game engine from scratch. The project code is written in C++ and distributed under the GPLv2 license. To run the game, files with game resources are required, which can be obtained from the original game Heroes of Might and Magic II.
Main changes:
- Added a virtual numeric keypad for entering creature counts in stack split dialogs.

- Fixed the logic of hero movement around some objects on the map to match the original game.
- A new type of "awning" object has been added to the map editor so that it can be placed on other types of terrain. Previously, it was only available in a snowy version.

- AI in combat has stopped chasing flying and fast creatures, focusing more on shooting squads.
- AI ranged units will no longer melee attack a blinded blocking unit, prioritizing maneuvering.
- For the "evil" interface style, a scenario description window was added in the desired color scheme, which was originally only available in "good" colors (brown and beige).

- Improved translations into many languages and added a virtual keyboard with special characters for the Belarusian language.
The fheroes2 team is currently actively looking for help from artists who can work in the pixel art style. The game has many tasks of varying difficulty, from small icons or buttons to large objects and full-fledged animated objects or creatures. Those who want to participate in the development and help the project can write in private messages in discord or to the project's email — fhomm2@gmail.com.
