Sailfish 3.0.3 mobile OS release

Builds have been prepared for Jolla 1, Jolla C, Sony Xperia X, Gemini devices, and are already available in the form of an OTA update. Sailfish uses a graphics stack based on Wayland and the Qt5 library, the system environment is built on Mer, which since April develops as part of Sailfish, and packages from the Nemo Mer distribution. The user interface, basic mobile apps, Silica's QML GUI building components, Android app launcher, smart text input engine, and data synchronization system are proprietary, but their code was planned to be open sourced back in 2017.

Π’ new version mainly bug fixes and system component updates are noted. PulseAudio sound server updated to version 12. The glibc library has been updated to version 2.25 (previously version 2.19), and GCC to release 4.9 (previously 4.8). The browser has been updated to the Gecko engine, corresponding to the release of Firefox 45. The updates are intermediate and are implemented as one of the stages of the transition from outdated versions to current releases. Also updated are iptables 1.8.2, pcre 8.42, shared-mime-info 1.12, util-linux 2.33.1, valgrind 3.14, zlib 1.2.11. For the Xperia XA2 device, initial support for NFC has been added and a test environment for running Android applications based on Android 8.1 has been implemented. The tools for remote management of a mobile device (MDM, Device Management) have been expanded, an API has been added to control connections to mobile operators and control access to traffic meters.
