Studio Yacht Club Games with Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, but doesn't want to part ways with Shovel Knight. Game director Sean Velasco and artist Sandy Gordon answered various questions about the franchise on the Nintendo Power Podcast.
In the podcast, Velasco and Gordon looked back on the story behind Shovel Knight: the Kickstarter campaign, the release of the game's amiibo figure, the completion of Treasure Trove. Near the end, they both confirmed that Yacht Club Games' future plans for the franchise are beyond just recently. Shovel Knight Dig.
βIn the future, we look forward to many more adventures with Spade Knight,β said Gordon. "We can continue to make Shovel Knight games for a very long time, and Dig will most likely be the next." βWe will always continue to make Shovel Knight,β Velasco added.
Shovel Knight Dig is being developed in collaboration with British studio Nitrome. At PAX West 2019, Alex Faulkner of Yacht Club Games that the gameplay - that you're always going down - is heavily inspired by Downwell.
Last September, Yacht Club Games CEO James Chan said that the team is ready to complete Treasure Trove and start a new internal project, but is not yet "totally sure what it will be." So far, the developer has not revealed any details about the next game.
