Video: Epic Games boasts Unreal Engine features and games on the engine

At the State of Unreal presentation at GDC 2019, Epic Games showed off some impressive real-time featurettes. This includes the magical Troll with active use of ray tracing, and photorealistic Rebirth with the use of photogrammetry, and a tech demo showing the new Chaos physics and destruction engine.

In addition, the company also showed general videos dedicated to its engine. The first focuses on the wide range of possibilities of this development tool. This is a reliable visualization of the characters (including hair, skin, eyes and clothes); and visualization based on the physical properties of materials; creation of complex and physically plausible glow effects (bloom); and real-time ray tracing; and realistic optical effect of shallow depth of field; and fully customizable Niagara particle systems; and volumetric fog; and the ability to render images on multiple displays; and an advanced distance-based granularity hierarchical system to create large open spaces; and support for temporary full-screen anti-aliasing and dynamic image resolution for a stable frequency; and cinematic post-processing; and an advanced scripting system; and the possibility of using 3D effects in the broadcasting grid on TV; and convenient work of many users at the same time; and animation based on physics, and much, much more.

Another video Epic Games devoted to a wide variety of games developed by third-party studios on the Unreal Engine. The company separately emphasized that the video included only a small part of the projects created around the world by both huge studios with big budgets and small independent developers, in a variety of genres, styles and for a number of platforms.
