Huawei held a major presentation in China today, unveiling a host of new products. One of the new products was the MateBook 14 HarmonyOS Edition laptop. The device could compete with the recently updated Apple MacBook.

According to the company, the Huawei MateBook 14 HarmonyOS Edition isn't just a new version of a laptop with proprietary software, but a completely new computer for the younger generation. The laptop is thin (14,5 mm) and light (approximately 1,33 kg). The device is available in three colors: Wild Green, Cherry Pink Gold, and Space Gray.

Unlike many other Huawei laptops, the new MateBook 14 HarmonyOS Edition comes with a keyboard that matches the case and features round keys. However, if you prefer the older design with square keys, you can opt for the gray version. The keyboard itself has 1,5 mm of key travel, and the D-shaped chassis features nearly 5000 tiny ventilation holes.

The Huawei MateBook 14 HarmonyOS Edition features a 14,2-inch OLED display. It has a 3:2 aspect ratio, supports a resolution of 2880 x 1920 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and offers 100% coverage of the sRGB and DCI-P3 color spaces. Peak brightness is 500 cd/m². A PaperMatte panel, which imitates the texture of paper, is available as an option.

The MateBook 14 HarmonyOS Edition is powered by the Kirin X90 processor. The chip's exact specifications are not disclosed, but its TDP is 40W. The device is powered by a 70Wh battery with 66W reverse charging support. The manufacturer claims up to 21 hours of battery life for local 1080p video playback, up to 20 hours of online streaming, and up to 15 hours of video conferencing.

The laptop runs HarmonyOS 6.1, which includes AI features like Celia Deep Research, Celia Note-taking, Celia Band, and others designed to help you with everyday tasks. Huawei emphasizes that over 17,000 different apps are available for HarmonyOS.

The laptop supports Wi-Fi 7+. Thanks to a metamaterial antenna, the laptop provides connectivity and 1080p video playback at a range of up to 700 meters from the signal source. The MateBook 14 HarmonyOS Edition also boasts NearLink support, two USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports, one USB-C port, one HDMI port, and a headphone jack. Bluetooth 6.0 support is also announced.

The Huawei MateBook 14 HarmonyOS Edition is now available for pre-order in China. General sales begin on April 28. Pricing and configurations are as follows:
