On Cosmonautics Day, another happy event occurred — the release of the Emacs Lisp interpreter, best known as the top text editor (according to Emacs users).
The previous release was just under a year ago, so there aren't many noticeable changes:
- support for Unicode version 11
- support for building modules in arbitrary directories
- a convenient compression command within the built-in file manager
Additionally, it's worth noting the release of org-mode 9.2.3 — a notes, tables, and calendars management mode that is essential for productive organization. Although it's part of Emacs, it has its own release cycle.
From personal experience — even org-mode https://orgmode.org/ is already sufficient to consider transitioning to Emacs.
