Developers from the independent Spanish studio Inverge have unveiled their new game Effie, which will be released on June 4 exclusively on PS4 (a little later, in the third quarter, it will also look at PC). This, as we are promised, will be a classic adventure 3D platformer. The protagonist Galand, a young man cursed by an evil witch for premature old age, seeks to regain his youth.
In the adventure, a powerful magical shield will render him a great service, which will act as weapons, tools, and even improvised transport (a kind of air surfboard). A distinctive feature of the project is graphics stylized as a drawing, which is perfect for a fairy tale story.
The action takes place in the Red Plains of Oblena, a distant land famous for its scarlet vegetation. In this vast world, players will be able to visit beautiful places like the whimsical city of windmills, ancient temples, or even the city of winemakers, where the buildings resemble giant barrels. Although Effie belongs to the 3D platformer genre, it is not 100% linear. In the open world, the player can freely visit any settlements, however, in the cities themselves, the gameplay becomes linear.
According to the story of the game, ghouls have invaded this fantasy world. Some of them are small and funny, but others are better not to even approach. Of course, they can all attack the main character. As you progress, Galand will strengthen his shield and acquire new skills. Ultimately, he will be able to perform simple and complex combinations of attacks, inflict charged enhanced blows, perform double jumps.
One of the disadvantages of creating a large world is the need to move quickly - the developers decided to simplify the process with a floating shield, and were very pleased with the result. The process of rapid movement turned out to be good, control over the character was convenient, and in addition, we managed to convey a sense of speed.
Effie will have small puzzles, battles, races, entertainment and, of course, a lot of obstacles in the way of the character, as befits a platformer. On Only English and Spanish localizations are announced.
