Epic Games has announced that Fortnite will receive official support for DirectX 12. Although there is no exact release date for update 11.20 yet, AMD has already released a new driver for its video cards with optimizations for Fortnite DX12 - Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.11.3.
Epic Games said: “When using DX12, owners of gaming PCs with high-end graphics accelerators can experience higher and more stable frame rates. This is because DX12 provides improved processor performance and allows rendering tasks to be distributed across multiple CPU cores.”
Unfortunately, Radeon Software Driver 19.11.3 does not bring any additional improvements or fixes. However, it does include the newly added optimizations in Radeon Software 19.11.2 for Respawn Entertainment's action-adventure title Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and fixes for performance issues in some areas of the maps in Player Unknown's: Battlegrounds.
AMD engineers continue to work to resolve a number of issues:
- Radeon RX 5700 GPUs stop displaying or lose video signal during gameplay;
- stuttering on Radeon RX 5700 series accelerators in some games at 1080p and low settings;
- screen stuttering or flickering in some apps when performance metrics are overlaid;
- Enabling HDR causes system instability during gaming while running the Radeon ReLive utility.
- increased memory clocks on AMD Radeon VII in standby or desktop mode;
- output of performance metrics in overlay mode reports incorrect video memory usage data;
- invoking Radeon Overlay causes the game to become inactive or minimized in HDR mode.
Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.11.3 can be downloaded on 64-bit versions of Windows 7 or Windows 10 as with , or from the Radeon Settings menu. It is dated September 18 and is intended for video cards and integrated graphics of the Radeon HD 7000 family and higher.
