The author of Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey caught journalists in deception

The creator of the not very successful Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, Patrice Desilets, claims that some of the reviewers did not play the project at all - and even named non-existent functions in their reviews.

Désilets spoke at Reboot Development Red. According to him, the team was "angry" that some reviewers had invented features in their texts that did not exist in the game, making it clear that they had not completed Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.

On the Opencritic the project has an average rating of 66 points out of 100 (based on 67 reviews).

“We do know—I'm trying to smile when I say this—that some reviewers haven't actually played the game,” he said. - This is part of our industry. They have to review the game, and they have 15 that need to be reviewed in one week, and sometimes there is no time for that. […] I know for sure that some people simply invented some elements in the game. There's no fire and you can't ride horses in our game, but some reviewers wrote, "Horses aren't that great to ride." My people are angry."

The game designer did not disclose which publications made such a mistake and who, in his opinion, did not complete Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. He added that he felt some reviews were too harsh because the game was unfairly compared to his previous work, Assassin's Creed.

“People expected my 35-person studio to release a game that was really close to Assassin's Creed. It’s simply impossible,” he said. “We made some tough decisions to release the game, and we wanted it to be different.”
