Vivaldi browser for Android may be released before the end of the year

The founder of Opera Software, Jon von Techner, is currently developing the Vivaldi browser, which is positioned as a modern replacement for the classic Opera. Recently, the developers released build 2.4, in which you can move icons around the interface and set up different user profiles. The latter should help if several users work with the same browser. However, von Techner said something else in an interview with CNET.

Vivaldi browser for Android may be released before the end of the year

According to him, anything can be configured in the browser. To do this, there are as many as 17 pages with various parameters, of which one is occupied only by the settings for the tabs. Von Techner is confident that users will appreciate this approach.

However, much more interesting is that the developers have not given up on the idea of releasing a mobile version of the browser. Work on it is currently underway. Vivaldi for Android and a standalone email app are expected to be released before the end of this year.

The specialist also promised that the mobile version can be customized just like the desktop version. According to von Techner, the mobile browser will surpass other similar programs in flexibility of settings, although not immediately. The first version will not get all the functionality from scratch. He also stated that the e-mail application still needs to be "polished", although in general it is already ready. At the same time, von Techner explained that such an application is needed for users who, for one reason or another, cannot use the web versions of mail services.

At the same time, according to the head of development, Vivaldi will not block ads by default, as, for example, in Brave. However, users will be able to download the necessary extensions themselves. Finally, von Techner said that not using the Presto browser engine (which was the basis of the classic Opera) is a big mistake. However, he acknowledged that the existence of several browsers is better than a single one and praised Firefox for the fact that Mozilla continues to develop it.
