Blogger and data miner Tyler McVicker new video On his YouTube channel, he shared the community's latest findings regarding Valve's secret game codenamed hlx—the supposed Half-Life 3.

Dataminers' observations are based on updates for Deadlock и Dota 2They, like hlx, are based on Source 2, so the files for these games contain references to changes in other projects using the same engine.
McVicker reports that the aforementioned upgrades include the largest amount of behind-the-scenes information about hlx in the last few years (if not ever), but the lion's share of it is related to development tools.

The files also reveal a "staggering amount of work" on creating choreographed cutscenes (interactive cutscenes) that the team at Valve has been doing for hlx since fall 2025.
According to McVicker, this doesn't necessarily mean hlx is any further away from release than supposed toThe beta version of Half-Life 2, which was released publicly a year before its release, for example, did not contain a single completed choreographic scene.

"Valve takes on choreography very late in development. Voice actors cost a lot of money, and it seems to be the most tedious part of production, at least for Half-Life," McVicker emphasized.
It was previously reported that hlx has been in development since at least 2021 by a team Half-Life: Alyx and is a single-player shooter with an emphasis on simulation, AI, and interactivity, which takes the place of Half-Life 3 in the series' chronology.
