An unofficial Chromium-based early build of Microsoft Edge is available. And it's ready to run

The first public build of the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser has gone online. This happened a few days after the first leak. At the same time, so far we are talking about an unofficial assembly numbered 75.0.111.0. This means that there is no list of changes yet, as well as localization for most languages. However, the Softpedia resource already allows you to download the new product.

In general, first impressions are quite positive. The novelty looks like a hybrid of Edge and Chrome, but it works very quickly. It can also be run not only on Windows 10, but also on Windows 7. Versions for Linux and macOS are expected in the future.

Of course, the version of Microsoft Edge is still in its early stages of development, so expect major changes. However, even this early build looks good. As noted, Microsoft is promoting builds of the browser through the Canary, Beta and Stable channels, that is, they synchronize them with Chrome.

It is important to note that the new product comes in a self-extracting archive. If for some reason nothing happens at startup, you need to unpack the downloaded exe file using 7zip or a similar archiver. Then extract the data from the resulting MSEDGE.7z archive and run the msedge.exe file.

In general, we can expect that the release version will be released in the coming months. It is possible that Microsoft will try to time the release, or at least the official beta version, by the time the April Windows 10 update is released.

We also note that the browser has a reset function, which can be useful if the program starts to work incorrectly. When this function is launched, the settings are reset to basic parameters, extensions are removed, the search engine is returned to the default, and so on.
