A significant part of the 4-minute trailer is a demonstration of the combat system. Despite the turn-based nature, there are QTE elements in the fights to carry out especially powerful moves.

A demo version of Yakuza: Like a Dragon is available on the Japanese segment of the PS Store, which includes content from the demonstration at Tokyo Game Show 2019. Whether the trial edition will reach a Western audience is unknown.
