ECG is now available to Apple Watch users in Europe

The iPhone maker previously launched the ECG feature in the US in December, making it one of the main features of the Apple Watch Series 4 smartwatch, which was originally introduced back in September last year.

Owners of Apple Watch Series 4 will be able to enable the ECG function through the Health app on their iPhone.

To get an ECG, you open the ECG app on your watch and hold your index finger on the Digital Crown for 30 seconds. Apple Watch records your ECG and heart rate and stores the data in the Health app on your iPhone. You can then generate a PDF report to send the results to your doctor. The function allows you to identify signs of atrial fibrillation, which is a serious form of disruption of the normal rhythm of the heart.

The ECG function is currently available in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guam (USA), Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway. Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, USA and the US Virgin Islands.
