GNOME Achieves Patent Troll Fundraising Goal

A legal fundraising campaign to defend the GNOME Project against a lawsuit filed by patent troll Rothschild Patent Imaging, LLC has been successfully completed. In total, more than 125 thousand dollars were collected, which is enough for legal protection at all stages of the trial.

Previously, the Open Invention Network, an organization that brings together a large pool of patents to protect free projects from patent lawsuits, announced support for the GNOME project. However, the use of a counterclaim against Rothschild Patent Imaging, LLC is not possible, since this organization does not develop software and only collects fees for its patents from other companies.
