Google Chrome will make notification requests less annoying

In the latest version of the Mozilla Firefox browser, developers radically changed the an approach to displaying requests for notifications from different sites visited by users on the Internet. It turns out that not only Mozilla finds these notifications annoying. For example, developers from Google announced that a similar function will appear in the Chrome 80 browser, and this applies not only to the desktop, but also to the mobile versions of the browser.

Google Chrome will make notification requests less annoying

In the new Chrome, requests for notifications will be less noticeable. In the desktop version of the browser, they will be displayed in the address bar next to the crossed out bell icon. If you do not want to receive notifications, you can ignore messages that the browser is blocking them. If you want to receive notifications from a site, you just need to click on the message and confirm your choice. In the mobile version of Chrome, messages about blocked requests from sites will appear at the bottom of the screen for a while.

According to reports, users will need to activate the new feature themselves. However, in the future it will be enabled automatically for users who frequently dismiss notifications, as well as for sites with “very low” subscription rates. In addition, Google plans to address the problem of sites that misuse notifications. The company warns of possible sanctions against web resources that use notifications to distribute malware and advertising content. However, how this will be implemented is still unknown.

These innovations will be available in Google Chrome 80 for Windows, Linux, Mac, Chrome OS, Android and iOS platforms, which is expected to appear next month.
