On Friday afternoon, the Twitter account of the social service's CEO, Jack Dorsey, nicknamed @jack, was hacked by a group of hackers calling themselves the Chuckle Squad.

Hackers hacked Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey's account

Hackers published racist and anti-Semitic messages in his name, one of which contained Holocaust denial. Some of the messages were in the form of retweets from other accounts.

About an hour and a half after the hack, Twitter said in a tweet that "the account is now secure and there is no indication that Twitter's systems were compromised."

The service later placed the blame on mobile operator Jack Dorsey, saying that "the phone number associated with the account was compromised due to lapses in security controls by the mobile operator," which apparently allowed hackers to send tweets via text. messages.

The hackers' tweets are believed to have come from a company called Cloudhopper, which was previously acquired by Twitter to create an SMS messaging service. If you send a message 404-04 from a phone number associated with your Twitter account, this text will be published on the social service. The source of the tweet will be identified as "Cloudhopper".

The current hacks appear to belong to the same group of hackers that last week attacked the Twitter accounts of several YouTube celebrities, including blogger James Charles, actor Shane Dawson and comedian Andrew B. Bachelor, better known by his pseudonym King Bach.

Dorsey's account has been hacked before. In 2016, white hat hackers associated with the security firm OurMine hacked @Jack account to post a "security check" message.
