iFixit's 2019 Device Repairability Rating

Compared to completely replacing the device, repair may not be such an inexpensive option. But which products are the easiest to repair, and which are the hardest? iFixit decided to compile their own ranking of the best and worst devices of 2019 in terms of maintainability.

In the case of the foldable Galaxy Fold smartphone, the reasons for criticism are quite predictable, given the presence of a hinge, but much less obvious are the criticisms of Apple products, which mainly concern the excessive use of glue, and, in the case of AirPods, the practical impossibility of reassembling them (completely unsuitable for repair).

The Surface 3 laptop deserves special mention. Although its score is not that good (5 points out of 10), iFixit decided to praise Microsoft for its attention to the possibility of repair. After all, the first models of the Surface Laptop line received 0 points out of 10 in repairability tests.

It is worth noting that among the many smartphones tested on the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel, the Google Pixel 2019 XL and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 were recognized as the least durable in the Smartphone Durability Awards 7 ranking - they did not pass the traditional bending test. By the way, the last the most popular smartphone in Russia. On the other hand, on the opposite side of this ranking is the Google Pixel 3a.
