At the time of release the game will offer five expeditions (tasks that can be completed within a limited time), but later their number will increase. Also, at first there will be no “permanent” inventory, voice chat and matchmaking system. According to the creators' calculations, the shooter will be in early access for about a year. The final version will feature improved stability and balance, as well as more content (locations, enemies and tasks). In addition, the developers plan to add character customization and an equipment upgrade system. You can try out the game before release: a closed beta test started on December 3, you can apply for participation at the official website the project.

On December 3, IGN published a new 20-minute fragment of gameplay.

In the story, the mysterious Director (The Warden) holds four characters in an abandoned underground complex filled with monsters. The heroes are looking for certain artifacts in different parts of the structure, following the orders of the warden, and at the same time trying to figure out how to escape from captivity. The nightmarish atmosphere is complemented by the music of Swedish composer Simon Viklund, who created the soundtrack for Bionic Commando: Rearmed and the Payday duology.

Despite its genre definition, GTFO is more a game of exploration, puzzles and survival than a shooter. Users need to look for weapons and gadgets and try not to attract the attention of monsters. The emphasis is on the cooperative element: it is important to act together, planning every step. The authors emphasize that the project is addressed to hardcore fans.

According to the creators, they need the early access period primarily for feedback from the audience. The developers will test the expedition system and experiment with its features.

GTFO has been in development for no more than four years and will be the first game from the Stockholm studio. The team behind it includes the developers of Payday: The Heist and Payday 2, including Overkill Software co-founder Ulf Andersson.

In the Western segment of Steam, the game will cost $35 (the price for Russian users is still unknown). After the release of the final version, the shooter will become more expensive. The developers do not rule out the possibility of releasing DLC and introducing micropayments, but the latter will only apply to cosmetic items.
