LG Electronics has registered a number of new trademarks that are expected to be used for next-generation flagship smartphones.

The LetsGoDigital resource reports that information about new trademarks has been published on the website of the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO).

In particular, the names G10, G20, G30 and G40 are registered. It is these names, according to observers, that LG's top-level smartphones of four future generations can get.

Thus, LG is likely to assign easy-to-remember designations with a digital index that is a multiple of 10 to new flagship devices. This will make it easier for end users to choose.

According to International Data Corporation (IDC) forecasts, 1,38 billion smartphones will be sold worldwide this year. If this forecast comes true, shipments will be reduced by 1,9% compared to last year. In 2023, shipments of smartphones will amount to 1,52 billion units. Thus, the CAGR (compound annual growth rate) in the period from 2018 to 2023. will be approximately 1,6%.
