For the second year in a row, a study conducted by Forbes and the nonprofit research group Just Capital has found Microsoft to be the most ethical public company in the United States.

Just Capital researchers surveyed over 4000 Americans, asking respondents about their opinions of the country's 1000 most profitable corporations on 29 topics, including pay, benefits, prioritizing diversity and inclusion, and how well they treat customers and shareholders. Civic engagement, including company involvement in environmental and community issues, was also factored in.
Microsoft topped the list, followed by NVIDIA, Apple, Intel, and Salesforce.com, with Alphabet in sixth place.
This is what the top ten looks like:
- 1. Microsoft;
- 2. NVIDIA;
- 3. Apple;
- 4. Intel;
- 5. Salesforce;
- 6. Alphabet;
- 7. Anthem;
- 8. PayPal;
- 9. P&G;
- 10. VMware.
Facebook ranked only 149th, despite being the top-performing company for salaries and eighth in other categories. However, according to the survey, Facebook ranked 915th due to concerns about its treatment of its customers, particularly those affected by its failure to protect their privacy, and dishonesty in the dissemination of information.
