We are champignons

We still have a tactic that we adhere to - for the second time in a row we finish the year in first place among companies. There is no recipe or secret ingredient here - there is daily work that gives results. Like in the gym when you're not hacking.

We are champignons

Under the cut - we analyze the blog activity over the past 4 years.

All calculations in this publication are based on the analysis of a CSV file with information about all blog posts, which can be exported to the corporate blog control panel - thanks to Habr for this opportunity.

Blog on HabrΓ©

Here one could simply write numbers, but it is much more pleasant to compare them with the figures of previous periods. Considering that we have been running a blog on HabrΓ© for the fourth year, it is quite possible to observe the dynamics:

2016. The blog has 72 posts - 58 (80%) of which were positively rated and 14 (20%) were negatively rated.

2017. The blog has 170 posts, of which only one has a negative rating (0.58%).

2018. 260 posts were published, of which all 260 were positively rated.

2019. Dude's voice: Three hundred. eight. posts.
Of which 308 posts have a positive rating.

We are champignons
In 2018, it seemed to us that we were freaking out - there are 247 working days in a year, and we posted 260 posts, that is, one post per day and a little on weekends. This year, there are the same number of working days, but there are more posts - they have entered the rhythm, picked up the pace and the workload does not seem to be somehow unbearable. Moreover, it seems that this is not the limit of our capabilities - there is a feeling that in 2020 we are going crazy even more so that you read us twice a day πŸ™‚ Joke (although there is a joke in every joke).

We are still focused on translations - we select content fillets throughout the network for the main target audience of our products - developers and administrators. We select ourselves, translate at the request of readers. We consider this option to be optimal - you can see in advance the quality of the publication and the reaction of the community to it, you can calculate the resource costs. But it is no longer possible to say that the RUVDS blog consists of only translations - this year we decided to put pressure on copyright content. Reportage from Baikonur, series of articles about education ΠΈ career, iron tests and much more - you have probably already read some of this. We will try to increase the percentage of copyright content in the new year - if you want to post something on HabrΓ©, then write to us, we will agree.

In the meantime, many thanks to all readers for the positive assessment of our activity.

Let's get back to the numbers

Of the 308 publications, there was not one with a negative rating, although there were minuses (albeit less than in previous years). In total, 13232 votes were cast for them (11870 pluses and 1362 minuses), the total post rating was 10508, that is, the average post rating was +34 (in 2018 it was +25).

The numbers still make us happy, but as it usually happens, we want more. Therefore, we will try to take into account the mistakes (from the comments and the reasons for the minuses) and become better in the new year.

Last year, we were glad that we were periodically in the 1st place in the rating of companies, although we did not break the bar of 1000 Habraindex units. This year, we have been steadily breaking through, and our blog has been in first place for almost the entire year.

We are champignons

The number of blog subscribers has grown from 2000 to 12000 over the year, but apparently, this is primarily due to the onboarding of new Habr users.

PDFs!

We traditionally pack large translation cycles into a PDF file, which is more convenient to store somewhere in a documentation folder (or on an e-book), rather than a bunch of links in your favorites. This year we had only one such cycle - about React, in 27 publications:

β†’ PDF version of the React guide / 278 pages, 4.8 Mb

Previous releases:

β†’ PDF version of the Bash scripting manual / 150 pages, 5 Mb
β†’ PDF version of the Node.js guide / 120 pages, 1.8 Mb
β†’ PDF version of the JavaScript guide / 103 pages, 2 Mb

It is not yet clear how we will conquer new heights in 2020, but there is a desire and some plans. We will be extremely grateful if you tell us in the comments what you (dis)like about our blog, what topics it would be interesting to read, and in general any constructive.

We wish you a good new year and achieve your goals in the new year!
