In the Russian Federation, it is planned to introduce an automated system for monitoring and improving road safety, which was announced as part of the IV conference "Digital Industry of Industrial Russia".
The complex is being developed by GLONASS - Road Safety, a joint venture between the state corporation Rostec and JSC GLONASS. The system will be based on cloud technologies and big data processing tools.
Currently, the situation on individual roads and in the regions as a whole is determined mainly by accident statistics, the number of accident-prone sections and some other variables. The new rating system will take into account a much larger number of criteria that affect road safety (RTS).
In particular, it refers to the analysis of 19 parameters that cover the condition of roads, weather and climatic conditions, technical and psychological factors. Data on accidents will come from the traffic police and from photo and video cameras, and information about car flows from transport systems. Meteorological services will provide weather information.
βThen, the information system will process big data in real time using cloud technologies and microservice architecture. This will make it possible to track changes in the traffic safety situation and, based on indicators, rank both individual roads or their sections, and regions of Russia, βsaid Rostec.
