PS5 will be backward compatible, but the question is still in development

While many of the details regarding Sony's next-gen console seem to be pretty much out in the open, the PS5's backwards compatibility feature is still in the works. PS5 will be released at the end of 2020, but already now there are a lot of questions regarding the future Japanese gaming system.

Of course, one of them is support for the PS5's backwards compatibility feature, which would allow games for the PS4 system to run on the upcoming console. Although it was previously confirmed that this feature will appear in the PlayStation 5 (which is quite logical, given the similarity of the architectures of both consoles), it seems that it is still in development.

PS5 will be backward compatible, but the question is still in development

According to Famitsu, it's still not 100% certain that every PS4 game will be backward compatible with the upcoming PS5. Responding to a reporter's request for more details on the matter, Sony responded, "Our development team is currently hard at work to ensure full PS4 backwards compatibility. Please wait and you will receive all the additional information." In other words, Sony is working on creating backwards compatibility on the PS5, but is not yet too sure that it will be able to ensure that any PS4 games will run on the PS5.

PS5 will be backward compatible, but the question is still in development

Back in April, Wired published an exclusive piece in which console architect Mark Cerny told the publication that the upcoming console would indeed be backwards compatible. It is clear that this much-requested feature was already in development at the time, but whether we will see it at the launch of PS5 and in what form is not yet clear.
