The Chinese company OPPO, according to online sources, plans to equip smartphones with processors of its own design in the future.
Last November that OPPO is preparing a mobile chip designated M1. It has been suggested that this is a high-performance product containing a modem for operation in fifth generation (5G) cellular networks. However, in reality it turned out that the M1 is a coprocessor designed to optimize the power consumption of cellular devices.
And now it has become known that OPPO intends to create a full-fledged processor for smartphones. The initiative was codenamed Mariana Plan.
It is noted that OPPO plans to allocate 50 billion yuan, or more than $7 billion, for research and development, including the Mariana Plan program, over three years. In other words, OPPO is extremely serious about the project to create its own mobile processors.
