The Stack Overflow discussion platform has published the results of its annual survey, which was attended by more than 83 software developers.
The language most commonly used by survey participants is JavaScript 64.9% (67.7% a year ago, most Stack Overflow participants are web developers). The greatest growth in popularity, as in the past year, is demonstrated by Python, which moved from 4th (44.1%) to 3rd place (48.2%) over the year, overtaking SQL. The number of users of the Rust language has grown from 5% to 7% over the year, TypeScript from 25.4% to 30.2%, Dart from 4% to 6%, and Go from 8.8% to 9.5%. The popularity of Ruby dropped from 7.1% to 6.7%, Perl from 3.1% to 2.4%, and PHP from 26.2% to 21.98%.

- Used DBMS. Over the year, the share of MySQL decreased from 55.6% to 50.1%, while the share of PostgreSQL increased from 36.1% to 40.4%. SQLite and MongoDB displaced MS SQL Server from third to fifth place.

- Operating systems used for work. Last year's survey included a more broadly defined "platforms" section, which allowed users to select multiple operating systems. In the platform section, the leader was Linux with an indicator of 55%, and Windows ranked second (53%). This year, the platforms section only allowed cloud services such as AWS and Google Cloud, and the operating system section only allowed users to select one primary OS.
