On Friday, July 5, 2019, the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technologies and Mass Communications (Roskomnadzor) announced the drawing up of a protocol on an administrative offense against Google.

As we have told, Roskomnadzor accuses Google of failing to comply with requirements regarding filtering of prohibited content. This conclusion was made based on the results of control activities carried out on May 30 of this year.

β€œBy law, the company is obliged to exclude from search results links to Internet resources with illegal information, access to which is limited in Russia. The control event recorded that Google performs selective filtering of search results. More than a third of links from the unified register of prohibited information are saved in searches,” the Russian agency said in a statement.

The case of an administrative violation against Google was considered by the Roskomnadzor Office for the Central Federal District. As a result, a protocol was drawn up.

For failure to comply with these requirements, legal entities are subject to administrative liability - a fine in the amount of 500 to 700 thousand rubles. Google does not comment on the situation.
