Hello, I like to write something interesting and useful to the community on Mondays. Today I would like to tell a story about how an IT specialist lives in Penza after St. Petersburg, and why I don’t really want to return to the most beautiful city in Russia.
prehistory
From 2006 to 2018 I lived in St. Petersburg. First he studied, then he worked, then he traveled, then he worked again, and in the fall of 2018 he returned to his native small regional center and quietly Kaifuyu for more than a year.
Penza - where is it at all?
Penza is not Perm, although it also has 5 letters, it is much warmer here, even grapes grow, we are located between Tambov, Saransk, Samara, Ulyanovsk and Saratov. Penza has been feeling confident since 1663.
What moved?
Everything is very simple, I got divorced, worked remotely, and absolutely nothing kept me in St. Petersburg. Therefore, I decided to return to my homeland, where there are a lot of school friends, relatives and other goodies, which are discussed below.
How are things with IT?
Not bad! There are about 20 companies that initially from here are the feds. Salaries for Penza are decent, but much lower than in St. Petersburg or MSK, or even compared to neighboring Samara or Ulyanovsk.
Good specialists whose families do not even consider working in Penza in line positions, since they need a salary of more than 150 and sit remotely.
There are no coworking spaces yet, but for now…
What do you like after Peter
Everything is very close
I can take a walk with a friend on the edge of the city and return home (almost the center) in 13 minutes by car, slightly exceeding the speed limit.
In September, he worked from a sanatorium on the shores of the local nedomorya (Sursky reservoir), reaching the city in 20 minutes, and the same amount to the center. Country life becomes a reality, not a mortgage for 2000 years!!!
For 25 thousand rubles you can rent a Penthouse
In general, the rental market here is much worse, but within 20-30 thousand you can afford very, very decent housing almost in the center, where there are no problems with parking, there are many rooms and in a house on 3 floors.
Relatives and school friends nearby
Coming to dinner at grandma's is priceless! You can not warn, but it's better to dial all the same in half an hour.
Phone at 20:00 with a school friend and after an hour and a half walk your dog talking about life. In St. Petersburg, this is not possible, only by prior reservation with confirmation of the meeting 4 hours in advance.
What's not to like
Now there is such a mood that I don’t want to structurally write minuses, although there are a lot of them.
Local mentality
In general, consumerism is creating here. Everyone believes that they deserve a better life, but they do not want to do anything for this. Hence a bunch of credit machines and show-offs about this. Hence the delays at the old foundation, fencing off "their parking space, which they got because they have been living here for 13 years." Hence the dissatisfied service in stores, government agencies, etc. For example, yesterday the receptionist in the laundress yesterday spoke as if she was paying me a lot of money, and not I. Until I pulled back, she talked like a boss with me.
I was in St. Petersburg for 10 days, I was happy with the service like a child.
Lack of prospects
The local youth believes that there is nothing to catch in Penza, so I will finish the university and immediately go to Moscow!!! Although ready to play the game with you. Write what you think is in Moscow and not in Penza, and I will try to find it here.
And there are prospects everywhere, you just don’t have to try to quickly earn money without doing anything.
Terrible public transport
A bunch of minibuses, collapsing trolleybuses and after 22:00 only by taxi. It’s good that according to my routes it is no more than 150 rubles 🙂
Relatives nearby
Yes, that's a downside too. Now they want to exploit me again for May holidays on potatoes. Thank you, but no, but offended.
Travel is much more expensive
From the local airport, more or less adequately, you can fly only in Moscow time and for 5 thousand. It's horrible. It is convenient to fly to St. Petersburg via Saransk, thanks to the 2018 World Cup.
This is the fattest minus, which is not so easy to influence.
Do I want to return?
No. Next, there should have been a cool picture in correspondence with a friend from St. Petersburg, who complained that he fell ill for the first time in 4 years, because he got sick at work and it was hard for him in St. Petersburg, but he did not agree to throw a screen here.
So I don’t see the point, because you can earn money not only in St. Petersburg / Moscow time, but the weather and social connections in St. Petersburg are much worse.
