The latest campaign and fighting game in the Shovel Knight universe will be released on December 10

Independent studio Yacht Club Games held back February promise and announced final release date Shovel Knight: King of Cards and Shovel Knight: Showdown - December 10th.

The latest campaign and fighting game in the Shovel Knight universe will be released on December 10

The list of current platforms for both projects is unusually wide. King of Cards will be released on PC, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox One, Switch, Wii U, 3DS and Amazon Fire TV. Showdown will be available on the same devices, with the exception of PS Vita and 3DS.

Both King of Cards and Showdown can be purchased separately for $10. Owners of Shovel Knight: Treasure Troveβ€”that’s what the developers call the main gameβ€”will receive both add-ons for free.

King of Cards is a prequel to the main story in the form of a bonus campaign. In the role of the Knight King, users will have to visit four new worlds, defeat three kings and ascend to the throne of the castle of Slavnopopi.

Showdown is a multiplayer fighting game featuring Shovel Knight characters. The abandonment of portable platforms is explained by the presence of a local mode in the game, which requires at least two controllers.

Additionally, a physical edition of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove will also be released on December 10th for Xbox One and Switch. The PS4 version will be delayed until early 2020 due to unforeseen production issues.

Shovel Knight is a retro platformer, the development of which was raised through Kickstarter. The game was originally released on PC, Wii U and 3DS in June 2014. Over the five years since then, 2,5 million copies of the project have been sold.
