In this video, Sam talks about how he decided to take a risky trip to his homeland, in the USA, when he learned that not all people outside of Moscow died. Before the apocalypse, Sam worked as a security guard at the US Embassy in Moscow, and then became Melnik's personal bodyguard. He is loved by all the other members of the squad for his inexhaustible optimism and excellent fighting skills.

Sam's Story is the second and final story expansion for Metro: Exodus and focuses on Sparta Ranger Sam's journey home. After the events of the main game, the dream of visiting the United States no longer seems so unrealistic to him.
