The Linux on DeX app will no longer be supported

One of the features of Samsung smartphones and tablets is the Linux on DeX application. It allows you to run a full-fledged Linux OS on mobile devices connected to a large screen. At the end of 2018, the program was already able to run Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. But that seems to be the end of it.

The Linux on DeX app will no longer be supported

Samsung reported about the end of support for Linux on DeX, although she did not indicate the reasons. Reportedly, beta versions of Android 10 for branded smartphones are already deprived of support for this software, but nothing will change in release versions.

Obviously, the reason was the low popularity of such a solution. Unfortunately, this is true, because there are many alternatives on Android itself, so using Linux on mobile devices is hardly justified.

It must be said that it was Samsung that had the main hopes in terms of popularizing Linux on mobile devices. After the failure of Ubuntu Touch, this collaboration was considered the most promising.

At the moment, the company has not commented on the situation, because the only thing that is known is the fact that support has ended. Unless in the future Samsung will transfer the code to the community and allow the application to be developed independently.
