A distribution kit for application development has been released Clear Linux Developer Edition from Intel.
Main features:
- Complete application isolation using containers (KVM).
- Applications are delivered as Flatpack packages, which in turn can be combined into bundles. Also offered application catalog with ready-made bundles for deploying the working environment.
- Distribution update modes: the ability to download necessary patches in a running system, as well as upload a new image to a Btrfs snapshot and replace the active snapshot with a new one.
- Packages and the system share a single version number. Unlike traditional distributions, where each package has its own version number, everything here shares a single version number, and updating an individual system component updates the entire distribution.
- Gnome is offered as the primary DE, but you can switch to KDE, LXQt, Xfce, Awesome or i3.
