Newsboat 2.17 console RSS reader release

Published new version newsboat, fork newsbeuter — a console RSS reader for UNIX-like operating systems, including Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD and macOSUnlike newsbeuter, newsboat is actively developing, while newbeuter has been halted. The project's code is written in C++ using Rust libraries. spreads under the MIT license.

Newsboat features include:

  • RSS 0.9x, 1.0, 2.0 and Atom support;

In the new version of newsboat:

  • Added tasks for building newsboat on CI servers for platforms Linux and FreeBSD;
  • Added documentation for "macro-prefix" option;
  • Added "save-all" feature to save all articles in the feed;
  • Added "dirbrowser-title-format" setting, used in the "save-all" dialog;
  • Ability to assign hotkeys in the context of the dialog generated by "save-all";
  • Added "selecttag-format" option to define how the "Select tag" dialog looks like;
  • The minimum version of rust required to build is now 1.26.0;
  • Italian localization update;
  • Fixes for various crashes or memory leaks.
