Google News service will refuse paid subscriptions to print versions of magazines in electronic form

It became known that the news aggregator Google News will no longer offer users paid subscriptions to print versions of magazines in electronic form. A corresponding letter was sent to customers using this service.

Google News service will refuse paid subscriptions to print versions of magazines in electronic form

A Google representative confirmed this information, adding that by the time the decision was made, 200 publishers had collaborated with the service. While subscribers will not be able to purchase new editions of the magazines, they will still have access to issues they have already purchased in PDF or some other format. You can find saved magazines in the Favorites and Subscriptions sections. It was also said that Google will return the last payment to subscribers. This should happen within a month, depending on how the subscription was paid.

After the service is closed, users will have to visit the websites of the journals they are accustomed to reading in order to independently subscribe to each publication individually. The reason why Google decided to stop providing paid subscriptions to magazines was not announced.

Recall that Google began selling digital versions of magazines in the Play Store in 2012, and later the ability to subscribe to different publications was moved to Google News. The Magazines section disappeared from the digital content store about a year ago. If you're used to reading digital copies of Google News subscription magazines, then you should look for other options to keep you up to date with new editions of your favorite titles.
