According to him, last year in Moscow experiments were carried out with facial recognition technologies based on the city video surveillance system. This solution has shown high efficiency, and therefore, on January 1 of this year, its implementation began on a massive scale.

In particular, conventional video cameras are being replaced with devices with HD quality. In addition, artificial intelligence systems with facial recognition are being connected almost throughout the Russian capital.

It was noted that last year, thanks to the facial recognition system in Moscow, it was possible to detain dozens of wanted citizens. By the beginning of autumn, the system will begin to work in the capital’s subway.

β€œBefore September 1, this system will be fully introduced in the metro. What does this mean? This means that wanted persons will be identified in the metro in a fraction of seconds,” said Sergei Sobyanin.

In addition, a video analytics platform can be deployed on the basis of the system. It will make it possible to almost automatically identify crime hotspots in the city.
