Hi all! Today I wanted to tell you about my new project - an online assistant for correcting errors in English texts . This is a service for those who use English in communication or want to improve their writing skills.
How It Works: Browser Extensions
We have created browser extensions ΠΈ . After installing such an extension, the system starts checking the text that you type on a variety of sites - from email services like Gmail to blogging platforms like Medium and social networks (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
The algorithm searches for typos in real time (there are 9 million of them in the database), punctuation, grammar, and stylistic inaccuracies. For each error found, the assistant suggests correction options.
If the system does not know a certain word, but you are sure of its correctness, you can add it to your personal dictionary, Textly.AI will no longer underline it. An important point is that you can use extensions for free and even without registration, that is, completely anonymously.
What else: a web application with advanced features
In addition to browser extensions, we have an even more functional web application. In it, the user can create many documents and conveniently switch between them.
Everything works simply: copy or start typing it directly in the editor - the system will start looking for typos, punctuation, grammatical and style errors.
The error sets will be different for different English variants: Textly.AI supports not only British and American English, but also, for example, Canadian and Australian variations.
In the case of teaching written English, it is important to understand how the different variants of the language differ - British, American, Australian or Canadian. The built-in tool for checking the readability of the resulting materials will also be useful: the student will gradually begin to understand which words introduce optional complexity into the text.
In addition to the features that many similar services have, Textly.AI also has some features that are not so common. One of the most important is the presence of a special Pastebin mode in the program, which works similarly to secret chats in the messenger: all materials created in it are checked for errors, and after the window is closed, they are completely deleted.
Who benefits from the product
The service will be useful for those who have to conduct written communication in English (from writing business letters to filling out Tinder profiles), as well as those who study the language or teach it. We also expect that Textly will be used not only by the students themselves, but also, for example, by their parents: by purchasing access for a child, they will be able to see how many mistakes he makes in the texts and monitor progress (useful knowledge if you pay, for example, for extra classes).
