Ubisoft intends to add cross-platform multiplayer to all their games

Earlier this month, Ubisoft added a cross-platform game to all versions of the shareware fighting game Brawlhalla. Now the company's CEO, Yves Guillemot, has committed to doing the same for the rest of the publisher's projects.

β€œOur goal is to gradually bring cross-platform play to all of the PvP games we have,” Guillemot said of the company's fiscal second quarter earnings report. β€œWe are already doing this.”

Currently, Brawlhalla is one example of a very small number of games with true cross-platform multiplayer on consoles and PC. They also include Fortnite, Minecraft, Dauntless and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Fully cross-platform was strongly opposed by Sony Interactive Entertainment, but as more and more game developers add this feature, Sony has changed its position.

Brawlhalla is one of two Ubisoft games that have full cross-platform multiplayer at the moment. The second is the World Dance Floor mode in Just Dance. According to Guillemot, cross-platform multiplayer will appear in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, Tom Clancy's The Division 2, For Honor and future projects. PvP games are a growing part of the publisher's catalog, and Ubisoft has said in the past few years that it wants to pursue a long-term support strategy.
