Yesterday on the official Borderlands 3 Twitter account there were some interesting messages. The first one was the release date. Soon the post was deleted, but the fans managed to take screenshots. According to the leak, the project will be released on September 13, 2019. It will be Friday, the day when many AAA titles are released in Europe, plus early autumn will avoid competition with upcoming blockbusters.
The second tweet was a brief teaser with a few frames from Borderlands 3. In the corner of the video, there were icons for publisher 2K Games, developer Gearbox Software and the Epic Games Store. It looks like the game will be exclusive to this store (at least temporarily). Regarding the console versions, there is no information yet. They will probably come out on the same day as the PC version.
The possible exclusivity of Borderlands 3 was commented by the head of Gearbox Software Randy Pitchford. At first, he stated that all rights to the series belong to 2K/Take-Two, which decides about the game's sales platforms. The head of the studio said that he was not worried about the exclusive release of the expected project in any store. The studio director made no secret of his positive attitude towards the Epic Games Store: βPutting aside the decision of the publisher, Gearbox is interested in cross-platform play.
