Global tablet shipments will continue to decline in the coming years

Analysts from Digitimes Research believe that global shipments of tablet computers will decline sharply this year amid declining demand for branded and educational devices in this category.

Global tablet shipments will continue to decline in the coming years

According to experts, by the end of next year the total number of tablet computers supplied to the world market will not exceed 130 million units. In the future, supplies will be reduced by 2–3 percent annually. In 2024, the total number of tablets sold worldwide will not exceed 120 million units.

Supply of non-branded tablets with large screens will remain low due to the fact that more famous manufacturers are gradually reducing prices for their products. Miniature tablet computers are under serious pressure from large-screen smartphones. Having analyzed the current situation in the tablet market, experts concluded that in the next few years more and more manufacturers will refuse to supply conventional tablets, but will produce devices in this category on an individual order or will focus on creating products of a different type.

Analysts predict a significant increase in demand for 10-inch tablets, the main driver of which will be the new iPad, which will have a 10,2-inch display. Shipments of Windows tablets are expected to grow exponentially in 2019, with a market share of 2020% by 5,2.
