Cyberpunk 2077 will have more ways to complete quests than The Witcher 3

CD Projekt RED is gearing up to showcase Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 2019, with a lot of new details waiting for players in June. In the meantime, the creators give out fresh information in small portions. However, almost any news about the project turns out to be interesting: for example, in a recent podcast of the German magazine Gamestar, senior quest designer Philipp Weber and level designer Miles Tost said that the tasks in the new RPG will be even more difficult than in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The information from the podcast was posted by a Reddit user. Weber and Toast noted that the quest structure in Cyberpunk 2077 is "three to five times" more complex than in The Witcher 3. We are talking about the number of ways to complete tasks. Apparently, now the developers are reworking the mission, adding new paths. According to the designers, in one of them the hero initially had to drop his weapon, but later it was redesigned in such a way that he had the opportunity to resist the order. Various scenarios were also created for the development of events after the character gives up the weapon.

The developers are trying to β€œlogically and rationally” fit quests with all possible scenarios into the plot. In general, their quality will be much higher than in the third The Witcher, as the work of the team has become more organized. For example, the most important mission design element in the 2015 game was witcher flair. The user had to use it even too often, and if one designer could not pay attention to this feature, then gamers noticed it sooner or later. In Cyberpunk 2077, the player will not have to do the same things.

β€œMy job as a quest designer is to allow the player to use various new features to complete quests, such as the skills of the Netrunner hacker class,” Weber wrote in a comment on Reddit, in which he clarified some points that were misunderstood by gamers due to for translation difficulties. - In some cases, due to this, the number of ways to complete some missions grows to three to five. This complicates the work in some ways, but, to be honest, doing this is very exciting.

Lead quest designer Patrick Mills talked about these improvements to the quest system in an interview with EDGE last year. Then he noted that the authors strive to make each secondary mission a full-fledged story that is not inferior in terms of the level of study to the main plot. Even earlier, in August, the developers said that the outcome of secondary quests can even affect the ending of the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 is being made for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. There is no official information about the release date, but according to one of CD Projekt RED partners, creative agency Territory Studio, the release will take place in 2019.
