What if you didn’t think very well when creating your account, but you don’t want to start a new one for the sake of a different identifier? Sony has finally come up with a solution - now (more precisely, from tomorrow) on the PlayStation Network, you can simply change your online ID. And for free - at least the first time.
To start a new life under a new "sign" in PSN, you need to follow a few simple steps.
- On PlayStation 4: Go to "Settings", select "Account Management" - "Account Information" - "Profile" - "Online ID", then enter a new online ID and follow the instructions on the screen.
- Via a web browser: log into your PlayStation Network account and select a PSN profile from the menu, click the "Edit" button next to the online ID, enter a new one and follow the on-screen instructions.

Sony will give players a new chance, but the main thing is not to repeat the same mistakes again. However, there are no restrictions on the reuse of the function. The subsequent change of the identifier will cost 499 rubles, and for PlayStation Plus subscribers - 249 rubles.
In case there are problems when changing a digital identity or, you can always return to the old identifiers. By the way, the reverse transition is free to any of the previously used and unlocked identifiers, which are forever assigned to a specific user.

All PS4 games released after April 1, 2018 must support this feature (PS3 and PS Vita do not count). However, Sony cannot guarantee full compatibility, and to be sure, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the list of verified games. Among the potential problems that users may encounter with unverified games are:
- previous online identifiers may remain visible to the user and other players in some sections of the game;
- you may lose your progression data for these games, including saves, leaderboard data, and trophy data;
- some components of games and applications may not work properly, both online and offline;
- you can lose access to existing materials (including paid ones), including add-ons and virtual currency.
The network identifier for children's accounts cannot be changed - you have to grow up before getting rid of the boring nickname.
When you choose a new online ID, you can keep the old one visible on your profile for 30 days so your friends can see the change.
