The standard developed in Russia will be the first document in the world that defines the requirements for navigation equipment intended for use in the Arctic. The fact is that so far there are simply no rules and regulations for manufacturers and users of navigation equipment for use near the North Pole. Meanwhile, the operation of satellite navigation equipment in the Arctic has a number of peculiarities.

It is expected that the adoption of the standard will help in the implementation of various projects in the Arctic region. In particular, we are talking about the development of the Russian navigation infrastructure of the Northern Sea Route.
