At the Internet Development Institute (IRI) selected games that are proposed to be included in the school curriculum for children. It is assumed that this innovation will develop creativity and abstract thinking, the ability to think strategically, etc.

Russian schools want to introduce electives on World of Tanks, Minecraft and Dota 2

Iranian specialists sent a letter to the Ministry of Education describing the initiative. It notes that most of the games are recognized eSports disciplines, with the exception of Minecraft and CodinGame. The first of the games is a β€œworld simulator” and a β€œsandbox”, and the second allows you to teach programming in a playful way.

The IRI selected those games that are popular among teenagers aged 14 and over, as well as those that meet the criteria of e-sports. At the same time, we note that the institute previously proposed introducing e-sports lessons, which are planned to be launched as a β€œpilot” in 2020–2025.

Sergei Petrov, CEO of IRI, noted that such games help develop skills necessary in future adult life - strategic and logical thinking, the ability to make quick decisions, teamwork, and so on. And CodinGame will allow you to teach applied programming.

Petrov also noted that so far there are only foreign games on the list, but in the future there are plans to support domestic developers. According to the head of Iran, there are also popular developments by Russian companies that can be at the level of world brands. True, he did not name any examples.

In addition to computer games, the list of recommendations includes chess, military-patriotic games, puzzles and much more. And improving training in this way is only possible with the interaction of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Ministry of Sports, the professional e-sports community, psychologists and specialized specialists.

Note that there are already schools and universities in the world that offer similar electives and classes. We can recall Sweden, Norway, China, France and the USA.
