In Sweden on Wednesday, electric self-driving T-Pod trucks from local startup Einride appeared on public roads and will make daily deliveries for DB Schenker.
The 26-ton T-Pod electric truck does not have a driver's cab. According to the companyβs calculations, its use can reduce the cost of cargo transportation compared to conventional diesel transport by 60%.
Einride CEO Robert Falck said the approval of self-driving trucks on public roads is an important milestone and the next step towards the commercialization of autonomous technology.
