This is what File Explorer, Start and Settings might look like on Windows 10X

Microsoft is currently developing a new Windows 10X OS for devices with two regular or one flexible screen. Among them will be Surface Neo, Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold, Dell Duet and Ori. The novelty will be released, as expected, by the summer and, judging by the latest information, will receive significant design changes.

This applies in particular to Explorer. The file manager has changed little since Windows 95, although it has acquired a "ribbon" interface. But there are no tabs or two panels in it. Therefore, in the new "top ten" Explorer and Control Panel will be updated. Although for now these are early versions that may change by the time of release.

At CES 2020, a version of Windows 10X for tablets was shown, it ran on the ThinkPad X1 Fold, and it updated the file manager, settings and notification panels, and the Start menu. The latter, by the way, looks like a GNOME implementation. And File Explorer is a ported version for Windows 10 Mobile with minor changes.

"Start" in the new version is devoid of "tiles", and the default icon is gray. It turns blue when you click on it. Not only applications are fixed in the menu, but also the web search function. Another possibility was gestures, which have long been on smartphones.

For example, if you swipe up from the bottom button of the screen, the "Start" opens, if from right to left - the quick actions menu, which replaces the Action Center. There you can turn network communications on or off, activate flight mode, and more.
