Meeting for Java developers: looking at AWS Lambda in action and getting acquainted with the Akka framework

DINS IT EVENING, an open platform bringing together technical specialists in the areas of Java, DevOps, QA and JS, will hold a meeting for Java developers on November 21 at 19:30 at Staro-Petergofsky Prospekt, 19 (St. Petersburg). Two reports will be presented at the meeting:

“AWS Lambda in Action” (Alexander Gruzdev, DINS)

Alexander will talk about a development approach that will be of interest to those who are tired of writing a new microservice for any reason, and to those who do not want to pay for downtime in EC2. Using specific examples, we will analyze the entire process - from writing a lambda and testing it to deployment and local debugging. The report is intended for an audience who has already heard about AWS Lambda or Serverless approaches in general.

“Akka as the core of high-load systems” (Igor Shalaru, Yandex)

Akka has been in the arsenal of Java developers for quite some time. It is a powerful and convenient tool for application development. As part of the report, we will analyze what an actor model is and what ready-made modules are available for Akka. Using an example, let's see how to start developing on Akka and find out what advantage this will give us in the future. The report will be of interest to Java developers of any level, those who are already familiar with Akka or just want to get acquainted.

During the break we will communicate with the speakers and eat pizza. After the reports, we will organize a short tour of the office for those who want to get to know DINS better. The event will last until 21.40. Pre-registration is required.
