DilOS - Illumos based platform with Debian package manager (dpkg + apt)
Delos is MIT licensed.
DilOS will be server side oriented with virtualization like Xen (dilos-xen3.4-dom0 currently available), zones and tools for use by small business and home users (Example: as a file server with a torrent client with WEB GUI, apache + mysql / postgresql + php for development, DLNA media server for Smart TV or mobile device with video and music hosting, etc.).
You can use DilOS as the base platform for your own distribution - you can create your own APT repository with DEB packages and create your own ISO.
You can install DilOS on a Virtual Machine (like Xen, VMware, VBox, etc.) or bare metal with a text console and SSH access.
DilOS contains: dilos-userland + dilos-illumos-gate + converted binaries to DEB packages from OpenIndiana (oi-experimental).
dilos-userland - Contains gcc build packages instead of some SunStudio build packages. This user area contains fixes from userland-gate (Orcale) and contains additional packages ported from the main Debian branch. Package builds targeting gcc builds.
Dilos-Illumos - based on Illumos-Gate with some changes: updated build system to create DEB packages via build, updated BEADM to support all installed zones, integrated LIBM, removed dependencies from Python24 and use Python27 by default, Perl-516 by default, and other changes not included in Illumos-Gate.
At the moment, not all packages have been built on DilOS for the development environment.
Plans: have all packages in dilos-userland with gcc build for userland and illumos IDE.
DilOS contains modified APT and DPKG tools to better work with ZFS zones and features.

We have 7 years with DilOS!
2.0.2 version has been released.
To update to the latest version you need to do:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install -y os-upgrade
sudo os-upgrade -y
The new version will install to the new BE and you can reboot to the new version.

The Intel and SPARC builds were made by gcc-6.
Lots of updates:
- ZFS updates from ZFSonLinux (ZoL) (feature list https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CFapSYxA5QRFYy5k6ge3FutU7zbAWbaeGN2nKVXgxCI/edit?pli=1#gid=0)
- PAM: switched to using libpam0g with appropriate tools (useradd, usermod, etc.)
- SAMBA 4.9.5 external package as replacement for dilos-illumos smb support
- added MIT KRB5, but need to configure service and fix related tools (volunteers welcome)
- GOLANG 1.13.3
- GHC 8.4.4
- and many more custom package updates from Debian Upstream
About SPARC.
take time to try and prepare a bootable ISO with all the latest patches and the patch installer.
it will be available with all updates a bit later.
We have ported many components from Debian userspace as build dependencies, but must work with services and configurations.
DilOS is an open source platform and you can get bug reports, feedback, updates and investments :)
If you need packages that are not already in DilOS, you have 2 options:
- try porting your own packages and upstream to the DilOS repository
- request a list of sponsored packages.
We are open to suggestions with customization, configuration and support for various use cases.
