PCLinuxOS 2019.11 Linux distribution release

Submitted by custom distribution release PCLinuxOS 2019.11. The distribution was founded in 2003 based on Mandrake Linux (the future Mandriva), but later branched off into an independent project. The peak of popularity of PCLinuxOS came in 2010, in which, according to results poll of Linux Journal readers, PCLinuxOS was second in popularity only to Ubuntu (in the 2013 ranking, PCLinuxOS is already occupied 10th place). The distribution is aimed at using it in Live mode, but it also supports installation on a hard drive. For loading prepared by full (2 GB) and reduced (1.2 GB) versions of the distribution kit based on the KDE desktop environment. Separately by the community are developing builds based on Xfce, MATE, LXQt, LXDE and Trinity desktops.

PCLinuxOS is distinguished by the use of APT package management tools from Debian GNU/Linux in combination with the use of the RPM package manager, while belonging to the class of rolling distributions in which package updates are constantly released and the user has the opportunity to switch to the latest versions of programs at any time without waiting formation of the next release of the distribution. The basic package includes such applications as Timeshift backup utility, Bitwarden password manager, Darktable photo processing system, GIMP image editor, Digikam image collection management system, Megasync cloud storage synchronization utility, Teamviewer remote access system, Rambox application management system , Simplenotes note-taking software, Kodi media center, Caliber e-reader interface, Skrooge financial suite, Firefox browser, Thunderbird email client, Strawberry music player and VLC video player.

The new release has updated package versions including Linux Kernel 5.3.10, NVIDIA Driver 430.64, KDE Plasma Desktop 5.17.3, KDE Applications 19.08.3 and KDE Frameworks 5.64.0. Xfce-based edition updated Thunar 1.8.10, xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin 2.3.4, xfce4-screenshooter 1.9.7, xfburn 0.6.1. An updated Myliveusb application has been added to create live environments on USB drives, including those with stuffing redesigned in accordance with user preferences.
